AG5: Internationalization in Higher Education and its Role for Language centres

Internationalization in higher education is supported and promoted in Europe. This leads to changes and challenges for language centres and language teaching, which we as teachers should consider. Mostly in the EU today the term "internationalization" has a positive connotation. Is internationalization already achieved through the introduction of English as an academic and administrative language, or is it more important to promote multilingualism? What are your experiences? We invite you to our section and look forward to finding answers to strategic and substantive questions in the area of internationalization, which are relevant for language learning. In our section we would like to shed light on some facets of the internationalization process and its impact on language centres and language teaching. We invite all our colleagues to share their experiences with us (papers and discussion in German, English and Russian) in the following areas:
